It’s a shame to see these priceless artifacts getting destroyed. Hopefully something can be done to prevent this from happening anymore.
I actually completely agree that the items should not be returned. Maybe not ever, but most definitely not while ISIS is making videos of its members destroying priceless works of history and art. It should be held onto until the country is not in the middle of an active war. How many items have been returned and were broken already? 3,000 year old artifacts can’t be replaced and some measure of care and caution should be used before making a choice to send it to a place where it may be forever lost.
